Plus beaux villages de France

There are 5 "Plus Beaux Villages de France" in Corrèze.
The most famous are Collonges-la-Rouge, Curemonte, Saint-Robert, Ségur-le-Château and Turenne.

But other towns and villages are charming and are worth a visit like Argentat, Aubazine, Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne, Donzenac, Pompadour, Treignac... or Meymac and Uzerche.  

Castles

The history of Corrèze is strongly marked by medieval wars, still present in the landscape with many fortified castles.
The most famous are named Ventadour, Turenne, Ségur-le-Château, Comborn, Merle.
In these strongholds, centuries of traditions recall the glorious, romantic and bellicose past of the Lords of the time.

Museums

The richness and diversity of the collections presented by the museums of Corrèze evoke the different periods of history, from the Neanderthal man to nowadays.
You will particularly appreciate the know-how of the tanners of Bort les Orgues, the "Black-nosed" from the Tulle Weapons Factory, the Travassac’s slaters…
Art also takes its place with Tulle’s lace, the unique collection of Mortlake’s English tapestries from the Labenche museum in Brive, the gifts of President Chirac’s museum in Sarran,...

Historical and gourmet routes

For history lovers, a Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago de Compostela invites you to discover the landscapes and architectural heritage of the Rocamadour Way in Limousin and Haut-Quercy.  You can also follow in the footsteps of the legendary King Richard The Lionheart.

For those who like gastronomy, two gourmet routes highlight the Limousin apple and the Périgord walnut.

If you prefer a fun discovery of heritage, board the little train Gaillard in Brive…

The Corrèze is home to a rich variety of unspoilt natural scenery.

Recreational lakes

You will find supervised swimming in 30 places – a refreshing reason to come here in summer!

Every water activity is available, from rowing to jet-skiing. The Lac de Neuvic, Lac de Séchemailles in Meymac, Lac des Bariousses in Treignac, Lac du Deiro in Egletons and Lac des Forges in Masseret have both been given the “Pavillon Bleu” award for clean beaches.
